Reiki
and The Importance of Living in Harmony
I have been giving a lot of thought about how rapidly our lives
have been changing as we strive to come into a more modern way
of living here in the Czech Republic and in other countries of
the world. In this time it seems countries and governments are
going through big changes. Strife and stress are evident no matter
which way we turn. We have seen the importance of applying ourselves,
working with integrity, and being involved in taking responsibility
for ourselves. For many of us the changes here and in former Eastern
block countries have been a catalyst to show us how conditioned
we all were in the old society. We had been taught to expect to
be told what to do and how to do it. Our governmental structure
supported us with food costs that were subsidized to be low and
housing that was held at a minimum. Then we got our freedom and
with it came change. Some of it directly affected our life style
and certainly our pocketbooks. All this has added another factor
to our living. Stress. I know that I have had my experiences with
the changes in this country which are not equal to yours. You
are Czech people and have had years of living in both types of
societies. But all change is opportunity to see how we handle
the newness that is present. Do we say yes or no to what is happening?
And when we make these responses how do they affect our being
at different levels?
Reiki is a way to help us regain our center point. This is the
place we can and do create from that enables and empowers us.
It is the place of peace and harmony. Stress keeps us from experiencing
this center point. When we keep stress alive in us we are essentially
making choices not form the creative moment of now, but from our
past and certainly from our fear or anger that has been projected
into our future. Every thought and emotion is energy. We are living
energy that changes as we think and feel. As we come into contact
with other living energy we therefore react or respond to it.
We say Yes or no with our energy. Have you noticed how other people's
moods affect you, or, how news on TV or in the papers affects
you, if you let them?
For a moment try an experiment; imagine that you have just received
bad news, something has happened that you did not expect or plan
for. Feel how your body reacts to this news and what are the emotions
associated with it? Using this process you can identify where
you store stress in your body. This disharmony also is the root
of what eventually could be physical disease. Your system is weakened
by the stored stress. Illness is a result of imbalance. The cause
is deeper.
You can also do this experiment with your positive responses.
Imagine you have just received great news, something you have
prayed for. Feel how this yes has affected your body as you feel
the emotion. Is your whole body involved with the yes? Or are
there some areas of you that have not taken the positive emotion
in to your being? If you find areas that are not fully engaged
in your yes you can place your hands over these areas with your
Reiki hands and give your self a treatment with Reiki.
What does not fully involved feel like, it is easy. It will not
feel as alive or light. It will be like something is missing in
you. I imagine your next question could be, "but, why wouldn't
I say yes with my whole being?" It is a simple yet profound
truth. When we stop ourselves from feeling what we consider to
be negative we condition our minds and bodies to stop feeling
emotion at all. Just as there are two polarities to life, we need
to work on both polarities to free the trapped emotion we have
stored in our being. Once free we then have returned to our center
point and can respond to and create from now. We call this living
in harmony with ourselves.
Once you have been initiated into Reiki you can use this technique
for your own and others return to harmony. Responding to these
areas of stress by simply placing your hands over the areas and
giving yourself a Reiki treatment. Reiki works on the physical,
emotional, mental and spiritual levels of disharmony.
I think of Reiki as being like the kiss we had from our mothers
when we hurt of selves. The kiss was to make us feel better and
to take away the pain. Reiki does enable us to feel better and
the pain goes away as we open once more to possibilities and say
yes to life.
The other benefit from living a stress free life is that our
world opens to a bigger and brighter horizon. The yes in us will
also touch the yes we receive and combine with others. So that
our world which could have previously been narrowly defined has
been expanded to include our neighborhood, our community, our
country and yes, even our world. We become people who are conscious
of our global connection and the need for global harmony. One
type of harmony leads naturally to the other, from inner to outer;
from the self to others.
I am not suggesting this happens in a blink of an eye. As I have
continued in my personal practice of Reiki over the past 20 years
it has been a natural unfolding, a normal process that has taken
me from myself to others as I become more and more balanced with
the use of Reiki.
If you have not had an experience of Reiki. I would recommend
that you give yourself the pleasure of fully relaxing for an hour
while being treated by a person who has taken a Reiki seminar.
Out of your own personal experience you will know the value of
living and working from a harmonious state of being. Or better
yet take the Reiki seminar yourself so that you can be an instrument
for change not only for yourself, but others. I wish you well!
