Visualization Meditations to use with Reiki

I will share some of the meditations that you can do while using Reiki. If you have not been initiated into Reiki yet, then simply use your hands as indicated and the love from your own heart. Your intention to do that activates your heart energy. In all cases, where you are asked to see with your mind, I encourage you to use your imagination to see. It may seem as if you are watching a movie, or if you can not "see" clearly it is fine to allow your self to feel what it might be like. Use the sensitivity that you have. There are no correct ways to do these meditations, only suggestions. It is never about "getting it right" rather one of giving yourself an experience. You can use these for yourself or facilitate others, in which case, you would place your hands on them as indicated. Some of these meditations have been modified from the book "Healing Visualizations, Creating Health Through Imagery" by Gerald Epstein, MD.

 

Sending Light and Love to Aspects of Yourself

Sitting or lying quietly take in deep breaths through your nose and with each exhale through your mouth, release all tension from your body so that you begin to feel relaxed and at peace.

As you become more relaxed become aware of your head. Allow yourself to feel the weight of your head. If your were looking at your head from your minds eye, would your head be all light or are there shadows there? If you see shadows place your hands on the places were the shadows are. Allow the Reiki energy (or your heart energy) to flow to this area of disharmony. When you are satisfied that all is clear and light then concentrate on your neck feeling the weight and sensing the light and shadows that may be present and respond with your hands. Slowly move through you entire body this way. Trust your first impression about what you feel and see. This is not a mental process nor one to use for diagnosis, it is simply a way to take time to respond to you, and to your body's need for love and light.

Morning and Evening Meditation

I find the best way to do this meditation is to lie on my back in bed. I do this morning and night as a way to harmonize my body. It is an excellent way to go to sleep and a lovely way to wake up as well. If you have been attuned to Reiki you will feel when you have had your hands in a position long enough as there will be a dissipation of energy, you would then move your hands to the next position. If you have not been initiated to Reiki then leave your hands in all positions approximately 3 to 4 minutes before moving to the next position. I also imagine that I am sending love and light into these areas and releasing any and all reasons for disharmony. Here is a quiet and sacred space to experience yourself. The experience teaches us self love.

Lying on your back place your hands on your head so that the finger tips come together and the palms of your hands cup the sides of your head. (this is 2nd position for treating the front of the head) and will harmonize the crown chakra. Keep your hands there and breathe normally until it is time to move your hands to the next position the front of the face, that the palms will come together (position 1 in the self treatment part of this book). You will be working on the Third eye chakra. When you feel it is time to move your hands then continue down to the throat (position 1 neck) you will be harmonizing the Throat chakra. Breathing normally move again to the heart center. I usually use both hands to cover the heart center and above. You will be energizing the thymus gland and heart center these are the physical and spiritual heart centers. When you feel it is time move your hands to the area of your solar plexus, You will be working with the solar Plexus Chakra. Breathing normally and in your own time move your hands to the sacral area, the sacral chakra, and then down over the groin area where the legs are attached to your torso, you will be working on the root chakra.

Healing Meditation for a Cold

This meditation has been referred to as the River of Life. Close your eyes and breathe out three times to relax yourself. Place your hands over your face as in position 1 self treatment of the face. See your eyes becoming clear and very bright. Then see them turning inward, becoming two rivers flowing down from the upper sinus areas into the nasal cavity and throat. The river's currents are taking away all the waste products, soreness, stuffiness. Now place your hands on your chest area and continue to see the rivers flowing through your chest and abdomen, into your legs, and coming out as black or gray strands that you can see are buried deep in the earth. See your breathe coming out as black air and see all your waste products coming out through the strands buried deep in the earth. Bring your hands back to your face and sense the rivers pulsating rhythmically through the body and see light coming from above, filing up the sinuses, nose and throat, all the tissue is becoming healthy and pink. When you sense both the rhythmic flow and the light filling these cavities, breathe out and gently open your eyes. This can be repeated several times a day. Using Reiki and imagery accelerates the healing affect.

Meditation for Healing Bones

Note: The first step for working with broken bones is to have them set by a doctor.

This meditation is commonly referred to as Weaving the Marrow. Close your eyes and breathe out three times and visualize that the ends of the bones as they are now. If you can touch this area where the broken bone is do so, however if you can not put your hands on the areas that you feel need energy. Now see the two ends coming touching each other. See and sense the marrow flowing from one end to the other. See this white marrow carried in a blue channel of light, flowing through the red bloodstream, seeing the arterioles flowing back and forth between the two ends, forming a woven net that brings the two ends closer together. See the two ends knitting together perfectly until you no longer can see any sign of a break. Know in your heart and mind that the bone is now one, open your eyes. This visualization has been known to have helped the bone heal much faster than normal, of course the addition of Reiki and visualization has fantastic results.

Meditation for Healing of Addiction

Your intention will be to find your way out of addiction. You will name the addiction and only work on one addiction at a time if you have more than one. I would suggest that you use this meditation three times a day for 21 days. (It takes 21 days to break a habit) wait 7 days and then repeat. Place your hands where you intuitively feel that the addiction is casing disharmony in your body. This is designed to cut addictive tendencies and can be used along with any addiction recovery program that you may be using as support. The meditation is often called Liberating by Re-experiencing. Remember you will be doing this meditation with the intention to liberate your addition of____________.

1. Close your eyes, breathe out three times. Feel and sense yourself as a child being left cold often or foe a long time. Breathe out deeply once. Feel and sense yourself as a child being left hungry for a long time. Breathe out deeply once. Feel and sense yourself as a child being left alone for a long time. Open your eyes.

2. Close your eyes. Breathe out deeply once. Feel and sense yourself as a child frustrated by the lack of basic needs. Open your eyes.

3. Close your eyes breathe out deeply three times. Feel and sense yourself as a child watching fearful confrontations. Open your eyes.

4. Close your eyes. Breathe out deeply three times. Feel and sense what has resulted in your life from the numbing of those childhood pains. Open your eyes.

5. Close your eyes. Breathe out deeply three times. Remove what hides the pain. Open your eyes.

6. Close your eyes, breathe out deeply three times. Feel and sense that whenever there is blocked pain we also block pleasure. Open your eyes.

7. Close your eyes and breathe deeply three times. Feel what it is like to live with out repression. Open your eyes.

8. Close your eyes and breathe out deeply once. Sense the new quality of joy and excitement that comes from not holding back the primal pain. Open your eyes.

Meditation for Healing of Burnout or Fatigue

Fatigue frequently starts in our adrenal glands and is often brought on by stress in our lives. These glands are just above our kidneys and look at bit like a pyramid. I recommend that you place your hands over the adrenal glands ( position three working with the back, self treatment) while doing this meditation. This mediation is referred to as the adrenal pyramid.

Close your eyes and breathe out three times deeply. Imagine yourself carrying a light, and enter your body by means of any opening that you choose ( the pores of your sin are openings) Find your way to your adrenal glands. Look at the glands and tell the glands that you love them and promise not to abuse them any more. Then in your minds eye see yourself gently caressing them to show that your caring. Afterwards, breathe out deeply three times, and see yourself at the top of the adrenal pyramid. Now in your mind run down the steps on one side of the pyramid and up the steps on the other side knowing that you are stimulating the gland to produce all that is necessary to keep your body in harmony. Sense the flow of hormones coming from the gland and streaming in the form of a rainbow of colors throughout the body. Now go to the other adrenal gland and repeat the process. Breathe out deeply three times and repeat the exercise again, Then slowly open your eyes.

Meditation for Healing Arthritis

Arthritis limits our range of motion and thus impairs our freedom on many levels. It expresses a simultaneous dysfunction of motion, movement and freedom in our emotional, physical and social lives. Suppressed anger has often been associated with arthritis. Anger often requires a physical outlet through muscles and joints to express itself. I usually will put my hands on the areas that the arthritis is involving. This meditation is called the Tide.

Lie down on your back and close your eyes. Breathe out deeply three times. See yourself at a beautiful beach, it is a familiar place tat you have visited or seen before in your mind. The sand is golden, the sky a cloudless blue and the sun is bright and golden. Find a place on the beach where the sand and the water meet. see yourself lying there with the soles of your feet toward the water, and cover yourself with wet sand, leaving only the souls of your feet, your face and head exposed. The sand and water mixture that you are covered with will act as a cleaner of toxins. See and feel that your skin is being cleansed. See the tide coming in quickly, entering the soles of your feet. Sense that the water is moving away all the accumulation of waste products that are being cleaned by the sand out of your system. It is dissolving all deposits and eliminating toxins. The tide begins to go out and the current reverses, flowing out of your feet slowly. See the waste products emerging as black or gray strands that are being carried away on the outgoing tide.

The tide comes back in quickly and again enters through the soles of your feet and moves up to your ankles washing away all waste products and toxins there. As the tide goes out, the spiral current reverses. Sense it flowing from your ankles and feet down into the souls of your feet as black or gray strands which are carried away by the outgoing tide. The sand and water mixture thoroughly cleanses the outside of your feet and ankles.

Once again, the tide returns rapidly, entering the soles of your feet, now passing through your feet and ankles up to your legs and knees, washing away all the toxins and waste that is there. Sense the spiral current massaging the muscles, helping the ligaments and tendons to stretch, and cleaning the cartilage and kneecaps until they are gleaming white. As the tide reverses sense the spiral current reversing and flowing back down your legs past your ankles and feet , out the soles of your feet and all toxins and waste look like black or gray strands that flow out with the outgoing tide. The sand and water compound has cleansed the outside of your knees.

Again the tide flows to you, entering the soles of your feet. The spiral current is going through your feet, ankles, legs, knees and thighs, through the groin and into the lower abdomen and spinal column, into the chest cavity, and upper spinal column, into the neck and cervical vertebrae and through the shoulders. Sense the spiral current going down your forearms into the wrists, cleaning out all the toxins and waste, taking away all the accumulations, massaging the bones, ligaments, tendons and muscles, making them all gleaming white as they stretch and become longer. The tide reverses again and goes out. The spiral current reverses and goes back from the wrists through the arms to the shoulders down the chest to the lower abdomen, through the groin, thighs, knees, legs, ankles, feet and out the soles of your feet. See the waste products coming out of the soles of your feet as black or gray strands and being carried away by the outgoing tide. Sense how free your body feels and how easily it is to move your limbs. See yourself standing up and diving into the water you are swimming with ease, turn over on your back and swim to shore using backstrokes and again your limbs feel free and flexible. When you reach the shore, come out of the water and let the sun dry you. Take a deep breathe and slowly open your eyes.

Meditation for Relaxation

This meditation is designed to achieve inner relaxation and can be done as often as needed. It is called Becoming the Blue Light. I recommend that you place one hand on your heart the other hand on your solar plexus.

Close your eyes and breathe out deeply three times and see that the oxygen that you are inhaling is coming in the form of a blue-golden light formed by a mixture of the blue sky and the golden sun. The carbon dioxide that you are exhaling goes out in the form of gray smoke, like cigarette smoke being carried away in the air and disappearing. See the light become blue light as it enters your body, goes into your heart and enters your arteries gently and smoothly, knowing that as this is occurring you are becoming more and more relaxed. When you have visualized that the light has traveled through your entire body and that you have breathed out all stress then take a deep breathe and slowly open your eyes.

Meditation for Cleansing

This meditation is done to prepare yourself for everyday life in a positive way. You can do it daily in the early morning. I suggest that you have one hand on your heart and the other on your solar plexus. This meditation is called the Garden of Eden.

Lie down or sit in a comfortable chair. Close your eyes and breathe out deeply three times.. Imagine that you are leaving your home and going out to the street. If you normally leave your home by going down a staircase or elevator do that as well. Leave the street and see yourself descending into a valley, meadow or garden and go to the corner of it. You will find a feather duster a hand rake or a broom. Take what you need to do your cleaning. With this tool quickly clean yourself thoroughly from top to bottom, including all your limbs. See how you look and feel knowing that you have also cleaned away all the dead cells from the outside of your body and all the gloom and confusion from the inside. Put down the tool and you will hear the sound of a flowing stream of water. Go there and kneel by it's edge. Take the fresh flowing, crystal clear, cool water in your cupped hands and splash it over your face, knowing that you are washing away all the impurities from outside your body. Now take the fresh cool water in your cupped hands and slowly drink the water knowing that you are now washing away all impurities from inside your body. Feel and sense yourself refreshed, energized and more awake.

Get up from the stream and find a tree at the edge of the meadow or garden. Sit under the tree that has branches hanging down with green lush leaves. Then with your back against the tree trunk, take in the pure oxygen that the leaves emit, together with the oxygen in the form of a golden blue light from the sun and the sky. Breathe out the carbon dioxide in the form of gray smoke, which the leaves take up and convert to oxygen. This oxygen that is given off by the leaves travels down the trunk of the tree and enters your body through your pores. You are thus making a cycle of breathing with the tree and are breathing as one with the tree. Let your fingers and toes curl into the earth like roots of the tree drawing up energy from the mother earth. Stay here for a moment taking what you need. Then get up from the tree and see how you look and feel.

Keep these feelings and images as you leave the garden, return to your street, go back to your home returning the way that you left. Take a deep breathe and slowly open your eyes.
