Choosing to be a Witness to Miracles
Reiki is an ancient technique to transfer universal
energy. It originated over 3000 years ago. Its method and the
keys to its power were rediscovered in Tibetan Buddhists writing
by Mikao Usui in the middle of the 19th century.
Reiki is practiced throughout the world by people of varying
philosophical beliefs. It is very special and defined as universal
life giving energy i.e.. - " unconditional love ". Reiki
is for everyone, no exception! Once a person is initiated by a
Reiki master the energy is always available to them without limit.
People who transfer the energy are not healers but instruments
for the energy. The instrument for Reiki energy does not direct
the energy rather it flows naturally to areas of disharmony. Reiki
works on the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual aspects
of all living things. Oftentimes the experience of physical illness
we experience is the result of deeper disharmony in the emotional,
mental and spiritual aspects. Reiki will flow to where it is most
needed. The energy harmonizes so that the person who receives
it heals themselves. The instrument through which the energy flows
is a witness to others healing themselves and to their miracles!
I have been a Reiki Master for over 16 years. I came to Reiki
partly out of curiosity and also a desperate need to find a cure
for my own illness. I was born with a genetic spinal condition
that caused lower back problems and in my early 30's, was already
partially paralyzed down my left side. The doctors told me by
the age of forty there was a good chance I would be totally paralyzed
and in a wheelchair. My emotional and mental state was not good.
I had thought of suicide and been hospitalized for depression.
I searched every where for a miracle cure, someone to " fix
me ". I took a Reiki 1 seminar with the thought that there
was nothing to lose, but was very skeptical. I then took Reiki
II and afterwards daily worked on transmitting energy to myself.
At first I noticed the depression had gone and my emotional and
mental outlook had improved greatly. Then gradually my physical
symptoms improved and the paralysis was completely gone. My mobility
and health had been restored. It took almost a year to feel completely
cured physically but I was also experiencing my life in new ways.
Instead of being a closed person who did not trust anyone I was
more open and optimistic about life. The biggest miracle for me
was not the relief of physical pain - but the relief from the
emotional and mental pain I had endured for so many years. I was
truly experiencing being alive. I am now 54 years old and still
fully active with no recurring problems with paralysis. Not only
that I have never been hospitalized again for anything.
I have worked with many people over these years and have been
a witness to so many miracles. A particular one that stays in
my heart is a woman who lived in a little village in Czech Republic.
She could not walk with out her two crutches and the help of someone
in her family. She had not been able to go out buy a loaf of bread
for over fifteen years and would stay indoors or occasionally
was helped to sit outside when the weather was fine. She had not
been to her garden in over fourteen years. The family brought
her to me and I laid my hands on her legs and also treated her
entire body. She fell asleep instantly. I also suggested that
the family massage her legs every night to improve the circulation.
On her 5th visit to me, she walked in with her crutches raised
over her head and told me she had gone to the grocery store to
buy bread for herself and stopped to talk to a neighbor. It was
such a beautiful moment that I put on some music and we danced
together, two grandmothers celebrating her miracle, she had healed
herself!
There are of course the miracles that occur with absentee healing.
Nearly four years ago my own mother who lives in Texas, USA was
diagnosed with cancer and given 3 months to live. She is still
living today with absolutely no sign of cancer. The tumor has
gone. She is convinced it was the result of me and many of my
Reiki students sending her Reiki two energy from the Czech Republic
so she could heal herself. Her doctor has told us there is no
logical way to explain the miracle and in fact calls Reiki divine
intervention.
Not long ago we were in Ostrava, Czech Republic to talk about
Reiki and to meet with some of my students in the evening. One
man who came there had a daughter who was in the hospital with
such severe upper respiratory problems, she was not given a chance
to survive. We all took a few moments to send her Reiki. He called
us several days later to let us know he was taking her home. She
is well! Another miracle.
Miracles are not little or big, they are miracles! Whatever change,
be it internal or external is a miracle. Although we never expect
it, we are always grateful to have been an instrument for their
healing.
It is such a great honor to be one of the many hundreds of thousands
of people throughout the world transferring this energy not only
to people but to plants, animals and even to our planet. There
are over 25,000 students of Reiki in the Czech Republic. Loving
hearts linked together witnessing miracle after miracle within
ourselves and others. It's not the mind that understands, rather
the heart knows and we are touched by love.
