An
Important Word
about "Irresponsible" Reiki Information
As a Reiki Master and Teacher of the Usui System, I feel I must
address a concern that is plaguing the Reiki world. That being,
the response to serious questions about Reiki by people who do
not state that they are Reiki Masters or even Practitioners yet
attempt to impress upon others that they have knowledge of the
actual process. This, you must be made aware of. The actual process
of proper Reiki knowledge comes from taking all three (3) Reiki
Degrees and being properly attuned by a qualified Reiki Master.
It is easy to see information presented nowadays about attunements
and Symbols, etc. But, one must also realize that this information,
if one is truly serious about learning Reiki, serves only to confuse
a serious student as the presenter may not include all that needs
to be known about that area of Reiki. Or for that matter even
the proper steps or as your own teacher would give it to you plus
this information, according to the teachings, is guarded. It is
certainly easy to pick up a book, read about Reiki, and then attempt
to dialogue with others on the subject. But why disillusion oneself
into thinking they now have Reiki? Reiki cannot be learned or
passed on by reading a book or listening to a lecture, etc. To
be done properly a serious student must devote time to learn Reiki
and then become attuned to it. This is one thing that makes Reiki
special and that no other similar modality must undergo. The time
required is an investment in oneself as a serious student and
the serious student should expect nothing less!
Likewise, some have presented arguments that Reiki
is not spiritual energy. It is. Most of those who say it is not
have also indicated they have no belief in God. Therefore, they
would, understandably, have no knowledge that God is the Source
of ALL, including the energy we call Reiki. Therefore, on this
basis, it is Spiritual energy, as benevolent, healing energy does
not come from us as individuals but passed through us by God.
However, God gave everyone Free Will, therefore, they are free
to believe as they so choose though it does not discount the fact
that God is still the Source of the energy as we are not a race
of 'self-made' men and only a fool would believe that we were.
It is, again important to stress that certain Reiki information
presented by some people may certainly be an individual opinion.
If the person has not studied Reiki and received his/her attunements
in order to be reflective of the actual teachings and they should
so state this at the outset in order not to cause confusion as
to their qualifications to discuss Reiki. Initiates of Reiki,
of course, are also free to opine in this regard even as attuned
Reiki practitioners and Masters.
Those who present information regarding Reiki without regard
to the Principles upon which Dr. Usui founded Reiki are acting
irresponsibly. It certainly leaves open the possibility of presenting
such information without regard to the consequences of such action.
The Law of Karma or Cause and Effect is ALWAYS touched by any
and all actions be they benevolent or malevolent and are acted
upon accordingly. To those skeptics, who incidentally come around
to sniff out newsgroups, BBS's, etc. and try to present problems
and assumed solutions in the name of 'being open and informing
others', with little actual knowledge of Reiki, this is obviously
more of a game to them. They get their name upon a board and feel
they can pass themselves off as qualified Reiki Masters. But do
not be deceived! They are only fooling themselves and they know
it.
The very special process of receiving an attunement to the energy
by a qualified Reiki Master is the Heart of Reiki. For it is during
an attunement that many transformative things can happen. When
one merely reads a book or researches Reiki to speak about it,
they cannot truly savor the energy and therefore are devoid of
the true essence of proper Reiki attunement. The experience as
many can tell you is awesome during an attunement! It is not uncommon
to elevate in higher consciousness such as to be able to have
a better grasp of the energy and its workings as it permeates
throughout the four etheric bodies e.g., the spiritual, physical,
mental and emotional as we are taught. This is the understanding
that skeptics lack if they have not received a Reiki attunement
prior to engaging in discussions. They seem to think that the
Reiki process is a plaything and should always be exposed. Reiki
is a most serious energy with Principles and ethical considerations
and therefore, certain elements shouldn't be exposed unless one
is ready and open to receive them as a serious student under a
qualified Master.
Next Time Someone Attempts To Discuss Reiki With You, Ask Them
if they have honestly received their attunements to Reiki by a
qualified Reiki Master, that is, one who has likewise studied
Reiki and received their attunements by a Master who also studied
and was attuned in like manner. If they have not, that would speak
volumes. If they have, that would provide a gauge as to their
qualifications in the discussions.
In conclusion, it is most important to add that it is not the
act of simply not wanting to share important Reiki information
with others. Aspects such as the Attunement Process or information
about the Symbols that could be criticized, but rather one should
have an understanding that to a true Reiki initiate, they vow
not to reveal such information in an irresponsible manner. That
is part of the class, in order to maintain the integrity of Reiki.
Such protocol is even considered sacred to Reiki Masters and their
lineage. This is in the Usui teachings and this information is
certainly given but only to a serious student of Reiki, one who
has demonstrated the desire to learn and has met the requirements
to be accepted as a student. The act of simply giving out information
deemed special and confidential, such as Attunement Procedures
and Symbols under the guise that things must now be 'in the open'
is a reprehensible and irresponsible act. It serves nothing more
than to confuse and belittle the integrity of Reiki and the sacred
process of bestowing the energy that is from God. That is the
difference between skeptics (who don't care enough to protect
the integrity of this great energy) and truly qualified professional
Reiki Masters and Practitioners. Skeptics will almost always disagree.
This seems to be something they feel is their right to do and
they, again, have Free Will to do so but remember that misuse
of such sacred information incurs great Karma and ignorance is
no excuse.
